Obituary for Steven Albin

Steven Albin
Steven Albin

October 9, 1954 - September 2, 2020

It is with great sorrow that the family of Steve Albin announces his passing on September 2, 2020. After enduring a series of unexpected and debilitating illnesses, the hero of our family has gone home to be with Jesus.

Beloved husband of Claudia (nee Stiller). Greatly loved father of Sarah, Melissa (Kory Wilson), Steven, Aaron who passed in 1988, Matthew (Alexandra Berens) and Janna Lee (Carlo Guizzo). Steve loved his grandchildren Alyssa, Austin, Ashten, Steven, Wyatt, Ryker, Xavier, Kalvin, Max, and Elijah as well as great-grandson Leighton.

Steve will be missed by his brothers Johnny and Mark (Natalie), nephew Alex, and sister Bonnie (Rob) and their children Melanie (James) and Cory as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends across the country.

Special thanks to Claudia’s sister Alexis Stiller who has provided much-needed support to our family during this trying time.

Steve was born in Victoria, British Columbia to Rita and John Albin (predeceased). Steve and Claudia met in Barrie, Ontario in 1980. Steve always said it was love at first sight for him, but jokingly said it took Claudia a little longer to come around. The couple married in Meaford in 1984, and just celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary. They moved to Sudbury in 1993, where they settled down to raise their family. They joined the community of Glad Tidings Church and enjoyed participating in church events, with Steve even graciously lending his acting talents for many church plays celebrating the life of Jesus.

Steve was a hard working, self-employed transport truck driver and former mechanic who was always the first person family and friends would call when we had any unexpected troubles. Steve loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time with Claudia and their family on Manitoulin Island. Steve loved fishing and didn’t even mind that he wasn’t always successful at it. Steve was known for his sense of humour, delivering the best one-liners you ever heard. No one appreciated his jokes more than Steve himself, and we will especially miss his warm and wonderful laugh. Family came first for Steve and his greatest love was spending as much time as possible with his wife and children. Steve has left a legacy of love that we will continue and carry with us for the rest of our lives. We will miss him greatly.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, September 9th at Glad Tidings Church on 1101 Regent Street, Sudbury from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.. Church service will follow.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Cooperative Funeral Home in Sudbury, ON.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations can be made in Steve’s memory to Glad Tidings Church or Operation Smile Canada
