Obituary for Rhéal Proulx

It is with great sorrow that the family announces his passing in Sudbury on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at the age of 82 years. He will be deeply missed by his devoted wife of 61 years Priscille (née Chénier) and his six loving children and their spouses, Suzanne, Michel (Pamela), Marc (Wendy), Gérald (Maria), Jacques (Lisa) and Daniel (Wayne). Rhéal (Pépère) was the proud grandfather of 15, great-grandfather of 24 and a recent great-great-grandfather of 1. He was also the big brother to three siblings who will miss him dearly, Jacqueline Chénier (Valois predeceased), Roger (Diane) and Stella Roy (predeceased). Rhéal was well respected in his community for his devotion and dedication to various political, environmental and wildlife causes that were close to his heart. He served as a councilor in the town of Valley-East, served as the Chairman of the Sudbury District Conservative Authority for 18 years and as the Provincial Chairman of the Conservation Authority for 5 years. The family will receive condolences at the Cooperative Funeral Home 4570 St. Joseph Street, Hanmer, Friday, March 29th, 2013 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 30th, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of the Cooperative Funeral Home, Hanmer. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Rhéal can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario.
