Obituary for Raymond Camille Charette

Raymond Camille Charette
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Raymond Charette in Sudbury on Monday, September 12, 2022, at the age of 91 years. Son of the late Lionel and late Laura (née Giguère) Charette. Beloved husband of Gertrude (née Séguin) Charette. Loving father of Pierre (Hélène), Denise (Stephen), Monique (Marc), Jocelyne (Jeff) and Renée (Darrell). Dear brother of Simone (late Lionel Thibodeau). Predeceased by his siblings Rita (late Frank Papineau), Cécile (late Harry Bell), Léonard (late Rolande Laframboise) and Gilberte. Cherished grandfather of Éric, Nicolas, Sébastien and Chloé. He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Raymond loved life; he enjoyed spending time with family at his home and cottage, all of which he was so proud of. He was industrious and never ran out of projects, big and small, including the construction of several buildings, beautiful furniture from kitchen cabinetry to fine woodworking pieces. He had an ear for music, became a good cook and loved a good joke, especially his own. For years he was a seasonal duck hunter and also enjoyed boating and fishing. He and his wife were true partners, growing and supporting each other in every way.

Raymond’s early beginnings in the auto industry as a mechanic, and subsequently in sales, led him to a career as a Territory Manager of farm machinery sales in northern Ontario and northwest Québec, a job that provided him with many years of personal fulfillment, self-realization, and travel.

Since 2019, Raymond was cared for by the dedicated staff at Pioneer Manor where he died peacefully in the presence of his loving wife and youngest daughter Renée, who also provided additional care and support to her father in his final years.

The family is grateful to his caregivers’ immeasurable support in the Lodge 1 Whitewater section, including Maria, Latifah, Barbara, Sarah, Courtney and many others. A special thank you to caring neighbours Robert, Reina and Richard who provided their support in recent years.

Raymond will be greatly missed by the members of his loving family and will forever be remembered in their hearts.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. www.cooperativefuneralhome.ca
