Obituary for Alfred Chartrand
CHARTRAND, Alfred
1932 - 2022
In loving memory of Alfred “Fred” Chartrand of Sudbury, Ontario who peacefully passed away on Sunday, October 9th, 2022 at the age of 90 years. He died surrounded and comforted by his loving wife Gisèle and the love of his immediate and extended family.
Fred was married to Angèle Chartrand (née Trudel) (predeceased 1977). Together they raised five children. He was the dear father of Michel, Diane (Laurier), Linda (Raymond) Francine (Marc) and Viviane (Daniel); Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his grand-children, René, Alain, Lianne, Krista, André, Eric; and many great-grandchildren.
Fred was born in Sudbury, Ontario. He was the son of Marie-Louise Chartrand (née Deault) and Darius Chartrand (both predeceased). He is survived by his sister Rita Sweeney (née Chartrand) and predeceased by his three siblings, Evelyne, Cecile, Maurice.
He is survived by his wife, Gisèle Chartrand (née Dalcourt) of Val Caron, Ontario. He is lovingly remembered by her four children, Catherine, Lucie, Clifford, and Angela (née Poirier).
In his earlier life, he worked in the lumber industry and had a long career as a heavy equipment operator. He liked to laugh and share stories from his childhood.
He was a skilled craftsman and handyman who enjoyed completing renovations and odd jobs. He had a passion for playing pool (billiards) and played regularly at the Knights of Columbus in Hanmer. He especially liked it when he could still beat the young players!
As per his wishes, no service or funeral will be held. A private celebration of life will be held in the spring of 2023.
