ROWLANDS, William Thomas

29 Jan. 1932 – 17 Aug. 2020

We are saddened by the loss of Bill (William Thomas) Rowlands in his 88th year on August 17, 2020 after a brief battle with cancer. Dad originates from Burwash and relocated to Sudbury where he met his lovely wife of 65+ years. Bill was a Cherished and loving husband to Mary-Lou (nee Sylvestre). He was a responsible family man and helped rear 5 children. His sons and daughters as follows: Gerald (Carroll), Normand, Catherine (Fraser predeceased, Nancy and Bryan (Anna). His legacy continues with his children along with 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Bill was born to a large family and is survived by his brothers Robert (Kay), John (Joan), Georges (Joan), Bruce (Laura Leigh), sisters Judy and Betty. Predeceased by his parents Frank and Dorothy, brother Doug and sisters Patricia, Sandra and Janet. Our father was dedicated to his wife and family and ensured all needs were met. He was always there. In his early years he held many jobs (taxi, bus driver), all while working a 40+ year career at Inco. When he retired, he and mom added a 20 + year reign as snowbird Venturing to Florida yearly while maintaining a home in Florida, a camp on Fairbanks, an apartment and prior to that A residence in Val Caron.  In addition to his work career, dad was actively involved sports whether it be direct ice time as Player, coach, or referee or and in his later years, he was a couch enthusiast. Even in his 80’s dad did not slow down - he enjoyed his wife, his home life and people. He will be missed by his little girl, his beautiful little pug Misty, He walked her many times a day. His other hobbies and pastimes were camping, golfing, bowling, baseball, and hockey.
He will be missed dearly and never forgotten. At his request there will no visitation or services or other social events. He would want all of us to celebrate our lives respectfully - donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
