Obituary for Roland Dutrisac

Roland Dutrisac
DUTRISAC, Roland - Former Rayside Balfour Councilor
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Roland Dutrisac of Chelmsford, Ontario on February 7th, 2021 at the age of 81. Loving husband of Evelyn Dutrisac (Vaillancourt) of 51 years. Father of Rose-Anna (Ugur), Roland Jr. (Diane) and Anne Marie (Dan). Dear son of Eddy and Irène (Lecoupe) (both predeceased). Brother to Raymond (Carmen), Aurèle (Lorraine), and Mauril (predeceased). Brother- in- law to Marilyn Richard (Roger), Ken Vaillancourt and Albert Vaillancourt (Jeannine). He will be missed by all his nieces, nephews and many friends.
Born in Sudbury on November 19th, 1939, Roland was raised on his parent’s farm on Séguin Street in Blezard Valley. During his married life he lived in Ottawa, Azilda and Chelmsford Ontario. Since February 14th 2018, his home has been at St Gabriel’s Villa in Chelmsford, Ontario. Doctors Gaetan Huneault, Yannick Charette, and Michel Gauthier have taken excellent care of him over the years. We are also very grateful for the excellent care and compassionate staff at Villa St Gabriel. Roland enjoyed the friendship of the residents in Whitson wing.
Roland loved politics and was very knowledgeable in political science. He was elected Municipal Councilor for Rayside Balfour in 1997. He always supported, helped, and encouraged his wife Evelyn in her political career. Roland always wanted to further his education. He studied at Laurentian University, Ottawa University, Ryerson and Queen’s University. He was a hard worker and was well respected in his career in civil engineering.
Roland was a fourth degree Knights of Columbus. He served as past Grand Knight for Council 9922 Blezard Valley and was the Deputy District Grand Knight for the Dowling, Chelmsford, Azilda, Blezard Valley, Val Caron, Val Therese, and Hanmer.
He was also a member of the Club Richelieu de la vallée. Roland loved his family roots and his French Canadian culture. He was inspired to organize many cultural and community events such as Le festin des coureurs de bois, le Réveillon, le Bal des Filles du Roy, and many Rayside Balfour carnivals. He loved nature and as a trapper he spent many hours in nature especially at Opeepeesway lake. He was a strong man and a great athlete. He was recognized as the best athlete in Track and Field in Northern Ontario (1958). As a hockey player with Laurentian University hockey team, his teammates valued him as an honest person, a great skater and a hard worker. He enjoyed spending time at the family cottage on Onaping lake and always had a building project underway especially working with cement.
Roland loved meeting and sharing with people. He was a great person always serving and caring for his family and his community. His love of God and Jesus guided him throughout his life. In lieu of flowers, the Dutrisac Family is asking that you kindly donate in memory of Roland (Rolly) to the Community Council of Care "Villa St Gabriel Fund".
