Obituary for Rita McMahon (Bradley)

Rita McMahon (Bradley)
With great sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of Rita McMahon (née Bradley) at the age of 90 years, on February 28, 2022 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Loving daughter of the late Wallace and Vitaline (née Lamoureux) Bradley. Beloved wife of the late James McMahon. Loving sister to the late Yvette Bradley, the late Madeleine Valiquette and the late Roger Bradley (the late Annette). Loving mother of Alan (Cathy), Brian (Brenda), Gary and Terry (Kim). Dearly missed by Dolores Corriveau, who Rita always considered as a daughter and best friend. Loving grandmother to Sarah, Russell (Melina), Natalie (Niranga), Chantal, Stéphanie, Sydney (Harrison), Jaimie, Mackenzie (Jade) and Frankie. Survived by her loving brothers-in-law René Valiquette and Eddy Debosky and many loved nieces and nephews.
Born in Sudbury, Rita was a gifted student who left home at the age of 12 to study at the Convent of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in Ottawa. She graduated from the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Pharmacy in 1954. That same year, she became an entrepreneur when she and her father joined forces to own and operate Bradley Pharmacy in Sudbury’s Flour Mill neighbourhood. She worked as a pharmacist well into her 70s and until recently remained involved in the family business, now operated by her son Terry. Despite her many personal successes and achievements, she was not one to seek the spotlight. She found her greatest happiness in raising her family, in the accomplishments of her children, in her grandchildren and in quietly helping others. Her humility and kindness were guided by her profound Faith.
Special thanks to Dr.T. Crichton, Dr. D. Falk and health care professionals Julia, Natalie, Lee Ann, Jennifer and Katie (extra hug for Katie!) involved in Rita’s care. In lieu of flowers—donations to Maison McCulloch Hospice or the Elm Street Mission would be appreciated. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Cooperative Funeral Home, 222 Lasalle Blvd, Sudbury, Friday March 4, 2022 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Jean de Brébeuf Church, Sudbury.
