LaRue, Rachel Elia Marie (nee Laforge)
June 30, 1934 – February 20, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother Rachel LaRue on Saturday February 20, 2021 at Pioneer Manor with family by her side.
Eldest child of Hector and Rose Emma (nee Lalonde) Laforge predeceased. Wife of Conrad ‘Connie’ LaRue predeceased 1974. Special friend of Ron Richer. Loving mother of Claudette Skakoon (Michael), Robert ‘Bobby’ (Debbie), Roger (Louise), Conrad ‘Con’ (Sue). She is survived by sisters Jackie Perusini (Jerome), Pierrette Bleau (Pat), brother Dennis Laforge (Rose) and predeceased by sister Georgette Soucie (late Russell), brothers Ron and Larry Laforge. Much loved memere to nine grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
There was nothing Rachel could not do. She was born and raised in the small town of St. Charles and the Donovan Area. Her first job was at the Regent theatre. She met, married and had four children with Conrad. In her spare time she sold Avon and worked for statistics Canada. She was always available to work various positions at municipal, provincial and federal elections. She helped her sister Georgette at her family business and her brother Ron at his establishment the Rock Hotel in Wahnapitae. Her last career moves were at Laurentian Hospital’s reception desk going on to become an E.C.G. technician which she retired from in 1994. Rachel accomplished so much during her life, getting better with age until Alzheimer took away her voice and her ability to walk.
For years she was a devoted Catholic at St. Augustin Church in Garson where she had been involved with the catholic woman’s league and choir. Her hobbies consisted of sewing, knitting, crocheting, gardening, painting beautiful sceneries and bowling. She is best known for her meat pies, ragout, fruitcake and preserves. Her favorite place to be was at her camp on cache lake with her family and friends having a beer by the fire or cruising the lake on the pontoon boat.
In March of 2017 she entered Pioneer Manor till her death. The family wishes to thank the cedar wing staff for their care and compassion given to Rachel during her stay there.
She was a beautiful person inside and out. She left us with many happy memories we will cherish forever. She will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews, cousins especially her traveling companion/cousin Claudette and lots of lifelong friends.
