I wrote this poem while Carole was with her Mom in Canada over Christmas & New Year whilst in a reflective mood of the importance of family and how deeply our lives are inter-twined. FAMILY What is Family? A group bound by blood? People who live together? Individuals linked by marriage? Dig deeper and it’s easy to see. Family is more than a family tree. Who’s there when things go bad? The first you turn to is Mam & Dad. If your blessed kids come along. Then your the one who has to be strong. A family unites with loved ones when times are good or bad. There for you always sister, brother, mam or dad. The next generation joins the fold, With Grandchildren around more Love to behold. Stress and worry occur when you back the wrong horse. But family is strong as life continues its course. Births, weddings and parties brings family together. They always come through no matter the weather! Videos and photos record these things. The Memories shared and the joy it brings. Disagreements and arguments sometimes occur. But it’s the love for your family that’s always the spur. Gifts and presents show relatives care. But who can replace a Memere or Pepere? Families share a common link. So in times of sorrow , when you’re on the brink. If your sad or depressed or need a hand. Turn to your family who’ll always understand. In conclusion to say a family is strong, Would be an understatement and totally wrong. No family has a magical wand. But is always bound by an indescribable bond ❤️
