Obituary for Luigi Presenza

Luigi Presenza
Beloved husband of Anna Maria (nee Ingriselli) (predeceased). Loving father to Giovanni Presenza, Carmela Presenza-Pitman (Garwin), Alessandro Presenza, and Patrizio Presenza. Cherished Nonno to Gabriello Presenza (Felicia), Sabrina Lamothe (Paul), and Bis-Nonno to Anastasia Presenza and Theodore Presenza. Dear brother of Pierina Flocco (predeceased) (Giovanni predeceased), Guido (Lucia predeceased), Clara Luciani (Raffaello predeceased), Adalino (Marisa), Velia Presenza and Antonio Presenza (Susan). It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Luigi Presenza on March 27, 2020, at Extendicare Falconbridge, at the age of 91. He is now joined with his wife, Anna Maria (nee Ingriselli). Luigi was born in Torino di Sangro (Italy) and immigrated to Canada in 1951 with a dream and with a strong will and passion for life. While growing up in Italy, Luigi enjoyed music and playing the clarinet. At the age of eleven, he was admitted into the Conservatory of Music in Rome. In his youth, he was part of an orchestra for church funeral processions. He continued to carry on his passion of playing the clarinet throughout his years while living in Sudbury. While settling in Sudbury, he lived his dream and owned his own business, Luigi’s Hairstyling. Luigi and his wife attended their local parish, Holy Redeemer Church, and they volunteered every Sunday as part of the church choir. Luigi played his clarinet and his wife shared her beautiful voice singing in the choir. They were both active in the Sudbury choir, Northern Echos. Luigi and his wife also enjoyed ballroom dancing and took lessons together. Luigi’s other interests included writing a short biography of his family life, studying the French language at Cambrian College for 8 years, joining Sudbury Toastmasters, and walking 10-15 kilometers a day during his retirement years. Luigi continued the tradition of wine making and enjoyed a glass of wine every night around the supper table with his family. We would like to thank so many staff members who were a part of Luigi’s wonderful care: (Dr. Roch, Director of Care, Administration, nurses, PSW’s physiotherapists, dieticians, activity aides etc..), and the residents who were his friends at Extendicare Falconbridge on the 4th floor. Special thank you to Luigi’s personal PSW, Maggie who tended to him with much care and compassion. Due to COVID19 and the social gathering restrictions, there will be no visitation or service. Luigi will be alongside his wife, cremated with interment in the Civic Cemetery Mausoleum. Donations (by cheque only) to Holy Redeemer Parish 1887 Bancroft Drive, Sudbury, ON, P3B 1S7 would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Cooperative Funeral Home. www.cooperativefuneralhome.ca
