Obituary for Lorraine Valentino (Legault)

Lorraine Valentino (Legault)
In Loving Memory of Lorraine Valentino (née Legault) who passed away peacefully, with her daughter Louise by her side, on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Health Sciences North, Sudbury at the age of 87. Lorraine was the third child born to the late Armand and Florestine (née Mailhot) in St. Albert, Ontario on December 12, 1933. She married Ronald in 1956 and they had four children together before they separated a few years later. Ronald passed away suddenly in 1974. Loving mother to Susan Barton, Louise, Lilliane Beauchamp (Robert) and Norm. Proud grandmother to her special one-and-only grandchild, Rebecca (Darrell) and great-grandmother to two sweet girls: Makenna and Madison. Predeceased by her siblings Mariel Legault, Denise O’Malley and Gaetan. Lorraine was very close to her older sister Denise and leaves behind many nieces and nephews, including Brian, Carole and Colleen who grew up with her kids. Raising her four children mostly as a single mother, Lorraine had to work outside of the home in order to support her family. Her career spanned 30 years at the Registry Office where she enjoyed working with her sister Denise and the camaraderie of several co-workers. She then settled into a peaceful retirement in the comfort of her own home, with the companionship and loving assistance of her daughter Louise. A woman of faith and prayer, Lorraine had a generous heart, donating regularly to various charitable organizations. She was also one tough lady, overcoming several health challenges in her later years while dealing with a painful chronic condition. Lorraine took pleasure working on crossword puzzles every day and loved hosting many family gatherings and celebrations over the years. We always eagerly looked forward to Mom’s delicious tourtières at Christmas and sugar pies on New Year's Day. Due to the pandemic, there will be no public visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Cooperative Funeral Home in Sudbury.
