GIROUX, Jeannine (née Hérard)

The family announces with great sorrow her passing in Sudbury, Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at the age of 71 years. Wife of the late Hector Giroux and special friend of Eugene Henley. Daughter of the late Joseph and the late Rosilia (née St-George) Hérard. Loving mother of Denis (Lise), Sylvie Giroux-Bidal (Fernand) and Chantal Costello (Michael). Dear sister of Solange Major (late Howard) and Rhéa Levac (Jean-Guy). Predeceased by her brother Clément. Cherished grandmother of Patrick, Dominick, Stéphane, Justin and Noah and step-grandmother to Stéphanie and Roxanne. Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Jeannine was a loyal employee at Extendicare Falconbridge for over 30 years. Before retiring, she took up the hobby of painting. Those who are fortunate to have received one of her paintings as a gift know how much she loved to paint and how good she was. She also enjoyed gardening and spending time at the lake.

We would like to thank Dr. Gill and the staff at the Northeast Cancer Center as well as the nurses at HSN who took care of her. A special thank you to the doctors and nurses of the Blood and Marrow Transplant Program at the Ottawa Hospital. Although her stay was brief, thank you to the staff at Maison McCulloch Hospice for the wonderful care they provided.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation. Due to the current pandemic, a funeral Mass will be held at Ste-Marguerite d’Youville Church at a later date. Donations to Maison McCulloch Hospice can be made by cheque or online. www.cooperativefuneralhome.ca.
