Donat Joseph Thomas  Carrière
1939-2022

It is with great sadness that the family announces his passing in Sudbury on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at the age of 82 years. Son of the late Raoul and late Yvonne (née Thomas) Carrière. Beloved husband of Solange (née Audette) Carrière. Loving father of Christine, Brigitte, Éric (Annie Cloutier) and Manuelle (Doug Sinclair). Dear brother of Jean (late Rachel), Jacques (Sheila), Lise Le Bel (Dr. Roger) and Pauline Chartrand (late Normand). Predeceased by his siblings Léo-Paul, Noëlla Racette (late Georges Émile), Yvette Lépine (Walter), Fernande Larose (René) and Rhéal (late Laura). Cherished grandfather of Sara Rose, June Marie (Chad McDonald), Camille (Stéphane St-Louis), Bryan, Charlie Jean, Stéphanie Rose, Jonathan Rose and great-grandfather of Léo Charbonneau. He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Donat and his parents moved to Noëlville, Ontario from St-Émile de Suffolk, Quebec in 1945. He bought and ran the family dairy farm in 1968 with his wife Solange and brother Jean until 1978. He then worked as a heavy machine operator at Denison Mines in Elliot Lake, Ontario. After the mines closed in 1992, he worked in Wawa, Dowling, Kapuskasing as a heavy equipment operator then, he retired in 2001. Solange and Donat moved to Sudbury to be near their children and grandchildren in 2013.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Extendicare York, 2nd Floor for their kind and compassionate care. A memorial Mass will be held at St-Joseph Church, Chelmsford, Monday, May 23, 2022 at 11 a.m. Donations by cheque or online to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. www.cooperativefuneralhome.ca
