Obituary for Donald Caveen

Donald Caveen
On October 31st 2022, life decided it was time for Donald Caveen to “cash in his chips” after a well-lived 95 years—just three months shy of his 96th birthday. Don was born in Toronto, Ontario on January 26th, 1927, to the late Dorothy Moore and Frederick Caveen, both born in the Isle of Man. Predeceased by his beloved wife of 53 years, Thérèse Gagnon; their spirit is carried on by their six children, Jean-Pierre, James (Arlène), Anne-Marie (Bernard), Michèle (Geoff), Christine (Frank) and Brigitte (Matthew). Adored “Grand-papa” of Frédéric, Jean-Gabriel, Alexandre, Anaïs, Noémie, Michèle, Olivier, Christian, Benjamin, Évelyne and Pascale. Proud great-grandfather of Elliott, Charlotte and Viviane. Predeceased by his brothers Gordon and Frank and his sisters Dorothy and Barbara. Dear “Uncle Donny” to his nieces and nephew. He is fondly remembered by his special friend Birdie Holtby.
Don was a brilliant man with a very clever sense of humour, and from the very beginning had an adventurous spirit that shone brightly in both his personal and professional lives. Not one to shy away from difficult situations, he lovingly took on Thérèse’s numerous wild and ambitious projects, leaving his family with cherished memories.
The family wishes to extend a great big thank you to the staff of St-Joseph’s Villa for their wonderful care. A special thank you to Catherine McLellen for her additional support and friendship.
There will be a small service for immediate family members only.
If you wish, and in keeping with Don’s giving spirit, donations to the Sudbury Food Bank would be appreciated by the family.
