Obituary for Donald Belair

BELAIR, Donald
It is with great sorrow that the family announces his passing in Sudbury on the morning of January 4, 2021 at the age of 88. Predeceased by his loving wife of 44 years, Noella (nee Sauvé) Belair. Son of the late Olaf and late Elsie (née Hotchkiss) Belair. Dear brother of Dolores (late Pentti) Rintala of Thunder Bay. Predeceased by his brothers, Mervyn, Gordon, and his sister Joyce. Cherished uncle to Karen Johnston (Lyle) of Winnipeg, Elsie Mae (late Asko) Vuotari of Thunder Bay, Diane (late Denis) Boyer of Sudbury and Rita Gagnon. He will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews as well as friends. Don worked for Ontario Hydro, starting in Cameron Falls where he was very active with the youth in the community. He was a scout leader, organized dances, and took them on excursions to lakes in the area for boating, water skiing and swimming, and tobogganing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing in the Winter. Don was a very social person. His work later took him to Sudbury where he met the love of his life, Noella. Don enjoyed spending time at the cottage on Big Basswood Lake. He also loved to play euchre and cribbage. Family was important to him and he never missed an opportunity to attend a family event. He will always be remembered for the wonderful memories he captured with his camera. We all love him and will miss him dearly. A heartfelt thank you to Peter and his staff at For Seniors Only for the excellent service and care provided. A note of thanks is also extended to North East LHIN for their assistance. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Donations can be made by cheque or online to the Cardiac Inpatient Unit Fund at www.hsnfoundation.com or to the charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to the Cooperative Funeral Home in Sudbury. www.cooperativefuneralhome.ca
