Obituary for David Lee Hallock

David Lee Hallock
It is with immense sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of David Lee Hallock on Saturday, May 1, 2021. Born in Matachewan, Ontario, Dave spent his early years in Temiskaming Shores. After graduating in Mechanical Technology at Northern College (1967), Dave’s career ambitions and entrepreneurial spirit led him to pursue work across northeastern Ontario and beyond. During later years, he developed a strong reputation for his environmental, home and building inspection work in the City of Greater Sudbury and the surrounding region.

Dave was a true adventurer. He loved to spend time outdoors, doing activities that ranged from a sea kayaking adventure on Canada’s Pacific coast to canoe tripping, hiking, camping, skiing, snowshoeing, skating, cycling, and blueberry picking with his grandchildren. He immensely enjoyed the company of others, engaging the people around him in lengthy conversation, and could always be counted on to provide valuable advice and support. Dave was a towering figure in his family, devoting enormous amounts of time, energy, and care to them all. He was a keen lover of music and an avid reader, especially of history books and maps. His sense of humour and strong commitment to gathering and sharing family history will not be forgotten. It is impossible to capture, in a few words, the myriad ways Dave’s spirit, boundless energy and family-orientation will be remembered.

Beloved son of Kenneth and Hortense (Larocque) Hallock and dear brother to Carol Clubbe, Lynn Hall (Sherry Frizzell), and Ray (Margaret). Loving husband of 56 years to Elaine (Falcioni) Hallock. Devoted father to Lee-Anne (Brent Dobson, predeceased), Steven (predeceased), Lori (Matt Tegelberg), and Crissy. Admired by eleven grandchildren, Erin, Erica (Jeff), Brenna, Austin, Lincoln, Emerson, Jackson, Connor, Elliott, Casey, and another soon to be born. Treasured by two great grandchildren, Quentin and Amelia, and by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Dave’s passing leaves a huge void for us all. He will be dearly missed, and his legacy will endure in the memory of all those whose lives he has touched.

Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, a celebration of life will be postponed until Dave’s life can be honoured appropriately. In the meantime, in the spirit of Dave, we invite you to spend time with your family and friends enjoying the great outdoors.
