Astrid passed on to the next stage of her eternal journey on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at the age of 65 years, following a valiant health battle.
She met her much-loved life partner of her husband, Antti, at Laurentian University. They were wed on May 22, 1976. Antti got a teaching job in Bathurst, NB in 1977, where they stayed for four years before returning to Sudbury shortly after Sonia was born, where Antti accepted a teaching position at Cambrian College. Shawn arrived in 1984. Astrid was a fun and precious sister of Cordula (Alyre) Morais and Monica (Travis) Abbey, and a gracious aunt to Zoe Abbey. She shared her love with a large family circle. Shawn and Tasha’s children, Madisen and Kai miss their Omi. Friends from near and far grieve her loss while cherishing her legacy of kindness, love, respect, action, adventure, curiosity, generosity and grace. Astrid’s determination and skills shone in all her activities, from her work as a pharmacy technician to her interests in travel, photography, singing, sewing, knitting, design, and many others. Her kindness touched everyone she met. A memorial / celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 189 Regent St.
in Sudbury.

The world is a better place for having had Astrid in it.
