The family announces with great sorrow his passing in Sudbury, Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at the age of 89 years. Born in Baker Brook, New Brunswick, on May 5, 1932 to the late Henri and Matté (née Bonnenfant) Lagacé. Beloved husband of Nicole (née Nadeau). Loving father of Jocelyne Zannier (Luciano), Guy (Colleen Armstrong), Roger (Emily Cattelan) and Louise (Paul Romano). Predeceased by his siblings Wilfrid (Régine) and
Clarida Martin (late George). Cherished grandfather of Mélanie (Darryl), Érik (Nathan), Tyler (Marjolaine), Daniel (Rebecca), Sophie and great-grandfather of Katelyn, Jordyn, Grayson, Adrien, Emmy and Annabelle. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews. Tony came to Ontario to find work and settled in Sudbury to work for INCO in 1950. He had a successful career as a miner at Creighton Mine for 16 years and was proud to have worked another 16 years as a shift boss. He enjoyed a full life with his loving wife Nicole by his side. They enjoyed many trips across Canada together. They camped and fished and picked blueberries. Tony was skilled at repairing cars and anything around the house. As a jack of all trades, he was always willing to lend a hand to others. Even while retired, he volunteered much of his time to the Club Amical and the Knights of Columbus. He drove school buses and transport trucks. He loved his family dearly and liked to make them laugh with his teasing and great sense of humour. In his final years when he suffered from Alzheimer’s, Nicole kept him healthy with daily walks, playing card games and word searches and provided him with delicious meals which he enjoyed with gusto. He was quick to say that he had the best cook. His favourite treat was ice cream. The family would like to express deep gratitude and thanks to his grand-daughter, Mélanie, who provided nursing care lovingly in his final days at home where he was surrounded by his loved ones. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Époux bien-aimé de Nicole (née Nadeau) Lagacé. Cher père de Jocelyne Zannier (Luciano), Guy (Colleen Armstrong), Roger (Emily Cattelan) et Louise (Paul Romano). Prédécédé par son frère Wilfrid (Régine) et sa sœur Clarida Martin (feu George). Lui survivent ses petits-enfants Mélanie (Darryl), Érik (Nathan), Tyler (Marjolaine), Daniel (Rebecca), Sophie et ses arrière-petits-enfants Katelyn, Jordyn, Grayson, Adrien, Emmy et Annabelle. Il manquera à plusieurs nièces et neveux. Tony est venu en Ontario à la recherche d’un emploi et s'est installé à Sudbury pour travailler dans la mine pour INCO en 1950. Il a eu une carrière réussie comme mineur pour 16 ans à Creighton Mine et comme chef d’équipe pour 16 ans encore. Il a profité d'une vie bien remplie avec sa femme bien-aimée, Nicole. Lui et Nicole ont fait de nombreux voyages partout au Canada. Ils ont passé beaucoup de leurs temps à faire du camping, de la pêche, et de la cueillette aux bleuets. Il était habile à réparer les voitures et n’importe quoi à domicile. Il était un homme à tout faire et était toujours prêt à aider les autres. Même à la retraite, il a consacré une grande partie de son temps au Club Amical et les Chevaliers de Colomb. Il a conduit des autobus d’école et des camions de transport. Il aimait beaucoup sa famille et aimait les faire rire avec ses taquineries et son grand sens d'humour. Dans ses dernières années quand il a souffert d'Alzheimer, Nicole l'a maintenu en bonne santé avec des promenades quotidiennes, en jouant des jeux de cartes et des recherches de mots et en lui préparant de la bonne nourriture qu'il appréciait avec enthousiasme. Il était fier d’annoncer qu’il avait la meilleure « cook ». Sa friandise préférée était la crème glacée. La famille tient à exprimer sa profonde gratitude et ses remerciements à sa petite-fille, Mélanie, qui a fournie des soins palliatifs affectueusement dans ses derniers jours à la maison où il était entouré de ses proches. Selon les désirs d’Antoine il n’y aura aucune visite. Un service mémorial sera célébré à une date ultérieure.
