Obituary for Aimé Joseph Giroux

Aimé Joseph Giroux
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Aimé Giroux and Suzanne Pharand, taken from us suddenly, on February 2, 2022, as the result of a motor vehicle accident. While our hearts are shattered from the tragic loss of our parents, we find some semblance of peace knowing that they were together, along with their sweet pup Toupie, when they were called home to our Heavenly Father. No couple was more loving and devoted. Aimé and Suzanne will be most lovingly remembered by their daughters, Mélanie (Ronald A. Fox) and Allicia (Armand Dupuis). They were predeceased by their son, Stéphane, in infancy in 1972. There was nothing that brought Aimé and Suzanne more joy than becoming a proud Pépère et Grand-Maman. They will be forever missed by their grandchildren: Stéphane, Isabelle and Jacynthe Fox, and Micheal, Armand Jr., Jacob, Nicholas, Justin, Sophie and Alexandre Dupuis. They will be deeply missed by Aimé’s brothers and sisters: Suzanne Belzile (Richard), Claudette Loyer (Gérard), Denis Giroux (Denise), and Joanne Lavigne (Michael). They will also be fondly remembered by Suzanne’s siblings: Gilles Pharand (Marilyn), Marthe Van Leyen, Gisèle Guilbeault (Jacques), Lucille Dennie, Jacqueline Pharand, Hélène Lachance (Raymond) and François Pharand (Elaine). In French, Aimé means “beloved”, and our Aimé lived and loved deeply, true to his name. He was an avid lover of country music, a talented musician, and was happiest when surrounded by his loving wife, cherished daughters and their families at his camp. Suzanne was a long-time employee of Laurentian University, having started her career there in 1974 and only recently retiring after several decades. Colleagues called her “the voice of Laurentian”. Suzanne was also a cancer survivor, having quit smoking in 2002, and never looking back. She loved Opera music, with her favourite aria being Ave Maria. We will miss hearing both of them sing. Friends and family are invited to attend the visitation at the Coopérative Funeral Home, 4570 St Joseph St., Hanmer, on Friday, February 18th from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Due to the Covid restrictions, all who wish to extend their condolences are asked to keep visit brief in order to allow everyone the same opportunity. Masks will be mandatory and all social distancing guidelines must be respected. The Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, February 19th at 10:00 a.m. at Paroisse Saint-Jacques, 46 Cote Blvd, Hanmer. The family would like to thank everyone who has donated to the GoFundMe for the funeral expenses. Each and every one of you is appreciated more than you could ever know. We are beyond grateful and humbled by your kindness and generosity.

Maman et Papa,
“A la prochaine chicane.”
Until then, we will take it “one day at a time,”
Just like you always told us.
Bonsoir, beaux rêves.
Nous t’aimons beaucoup.
