Obituary for Adrienne Despatie (Roy)

Adrienne Despatie (Roy)
It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Adrienne Despatie (née Roy) on February 7th, 2022 in Hanmer at the age of 91. Daughter of Joseph Jean Roy and Clémentine (née Dubois) both predeceased. Beloved wife of Louis Despatie (predeceased). She is survived by her three sons Denis (Jacqueline), Jean-Louis (Hélène) and Guy (Wendy) as well as her daughter and best friend, Suzanne (Don Abbott). Adrienne was a devoted grandmother to her 8 grandchildren, Marc, Daniel (Elise), Natalie (Christian Bruneau), Louise (predeceased), Albert, Lynn (Ken Reiss), Anne (Jeff Brunton) and Eric and to her 8 great grandchildren, Nicolas (Krista), Mattieu (Kelsey), Alex, Madeleine, Anika, Émilie, Valérie and Louie. Beloved sister of Florian (predeceased), Gérard (predeceased) (Suzanne St-Pierre), Michel (Stella (predeceased)) (Marielle) and Henri (Diane). Sister-in-law of Rhéa (predeceased) (Constant Démoré predeceased), Hervé (predeceased), Jeanne (predeceased) (Ted Callaghan predeceased), Cécile (predeceased) (Fernand Pharand predeceased), Théodore (predeceased) (Ghislaine predeceased), Augustine (Roméo Proulx predeceased), Wilfrid (predeceased) (Monique), Thérèse (Aurèle Houle predeceased), Lucien (predeceased) (Alice), Roger (predeceased) (Patricia predeceased) and Lily (Victor Pharand predeceased). Beloved aunt of many nieces and nephews. Special friend of Ghislaine Deschenes.

Devoted body and soul to her family, Adrienne was happiest when surrounded by them. She showed unconditional love and a warm welcome to all, filling her home with family and friends. She took immeasurable pride in a full house, and did not hesitate to prevent guests from leaving. In her spare time, Adrienne could spend many hours on the phone, knitting wool socks or cooking. An unparalleled cook, Adrienne was best known for her tourtières, butter tarts, homemade soup and even 10 p.m. lunches. Although she spent a lifetime serving with love, Adrienne did not shy away from shopping opportunities where she was often on a mission to find a new coat or shoes.

The family would like to thank the personal support workers who provided care to Adrienne, especially Chantal.

Although Adrienne had no shortage of love here on earth, her beloved Louis has been waiting for her for a long time.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Cooperative Funeral Home, 4570 St. Joseph Street, Hanmer, Monday, February 14th from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 15th, at 10 a.m. at paroisse St. Jacques, Hanmer.
